Privacy Policy
The law requires me to comply with the UK General Data Protection Regulation under the Data Protection Act 2018. I am registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (reference no: ZB349498). You can contact me on monarchcounsellinguk@gmail.com to discuss any questions you might have regarding my data protection policy.
Confidentiality and privacy of clients is incredibly important to me and I store and management information digitally and in paper form. Digital data is encrypted and paper documentation is stored in a locked filing cabinet which only I have access to. I store two types of information:
- Personal information – Client’s full name, date of birth, address, e-mail/telephone numbers, emergency contact details and any other information supplied by clients as part of the initial consultation process; GP or other health professional contact details and any related correspondence; copy of the counsellor – client agreement. I use this information solely to respond to communications from you and to provide my counselling services.
- Therapeutic records – I keep a brief record of the main themes of each counselling sessions.
These records are stored separately. Once counselling is finished I am legally required to retain your data for up to seven years. Annually I will conduct a review to determine if I need to continue to retain your information.
You have the right to request a copy of the information that I hold about you at any time. Please e-mail monarchcounsellinguk@gmail.com to request this information and this will be provided to you within a month.
